What Ceramic Coating Does
Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your clear coat, creating a hard, hydrophobic layer that repels water, blocks UV rays, resists chemicals, and enhances gloss. It does NOT prevent rock chips or deep scratches.
What Paint Protection Film Does
PPF is a clear thermoplastic urethane film that absorbs rock chips, self-heals minor scratches, and prevents door dings. It doesn’t provide the same chemical resistance or hydrophobic properties as ceramic coating.
Cost Comparison
- Ceramic Coating: $500 – $1,200 (lasts 2-5+ years)
- PPF Partial Front: $1,500 – $2,500 (lasts 5-10 years)
- PPF Full Body: $4,000 – $7,000 (lasts 5-10 years)
- PPF + Ceramic Coating: $2,000 – $8,000 (the gold standard)
When to Choose Ceramic Coating
Best for city driving, tighter budgets, and anyone wanting easier maintenance and UV/chemical protection in Louisiana’s harsh climate.
When to Choose PPF
Best for highway commuters, high-value vehicles, and anyone wanting maximum physical impact protection.
When to Use Both
PPF on high-impact areas with ceramic coating over the entire vehicle — including over the PPF — gives you physical protection where impacts happen and chemical/UV protection everywhere.
